We live in an era of global insecurity, suffering, distress, conflict, and increasing spiritual warfare against Christians.
Nevertheless, amid such grim darkness, it is comforting to know that as Christians, Christ has assured us of victory in this present evil world. In John 16:33, Jesus foretold the troubles and tribulations that will befall this world in the last days but instructed us to find full comfort in the reality that He has overcome the world and in Him, we will find peace. God also promised to keep us from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world (Revelation 3:10).
No matter how forceful the forces of darkness may seem to advance, He has equipped us with the power to live, stand and stay strong during this period. The power of God working in us can make us strong in our moments of weakness and the Holy Ghost comforts us in our time of need. Also, we have the word of God and the blessed peace of Christ, which the world cannot take away.
Many things creep into the lives of some Christians and make them captives, as a result, they become slaves to sin, sickness, and the power of darkness, and the more they struggle to get free, the more they are captured and encumbered. But the goodness is that God is always ready and mighty to deliver if they will turn to Him. Today, God is calling as many that have been encumbered and enslaved by things around them to come to Him – Matthew 11:28. He wants to renew and empower today.
Some good and legitimate things also burden the lives of many just as it was in the case of Martha – Luke 10:40. When things load your life that you have no time to desire to pray or attend fellowships, you need to be careful. You shouldn’t join the rat race or allow the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches to take your time and make you abandon the essential things of eternal value.
Today, examine and search yourself to identify those things eating up your strength and making you fruitless, then get rid of them. The Bible enjoins you to – Break up your fallow ground and sow not among thorns (Jeremiah 4:3).
As a Christian, you should also know that there are spiritual forces fighting against your soul and progress in life. Such forces war against you achieving your goals, aspirations, visions, and dreams.
But there’s assured victory in the name of the Lord. We don’t fight against flesh and blood and neither can we overcome spiritual battles with secular education, native wisdom or carnal weapons. As the scripture says, “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” – (2 Corinthians 10:4,5).
Moreover, God has given us the power to conquer and triumph over anything that wants to encumber and endanger our lives. He said in Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. To continually walk in this power, we must be saved, make all outstanding restitutions, settle any difference, have a cleansed heart and tarry in His presence daily.
Nothing will stop your journey; nothing shall by any means hinder or weaken you. You will be strong and will receive this present, perpetual and practical power as you seek the Lord in Jesus’ name.
