A part of the lyrics of a particular song states: ‘I have been waiting for breakthrough, I have been praying for change, I know You will work it out for good, but how long will it take? I have been asking for healing, and I am not going to lie, I am waiting for a miracle, God, let it be this time. ‘Many times, the problem is not that we do not trust God, but the ‘when?’ of the fulfilment of a promise/promises He has made, or the answer to a particular prayer/prayers we have made to Him. Proverbs chapter 13 verse 12 states: “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” One of the things we can deduce from this verse of the Bible is that it is possible for an individual to get discouraged when his or her expectation is delayed. Let’s see another part of the Bible too, and what it states. Isaiah chapter 50 verse 10 states: “Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.” Here, the Bible also makes us know that it is possible to be a genuine child of God and still have challenges. One other thing to note in this verse, is the encouragement it gives to keep on trusting God despite these challenges, for that exhausted child of His to ‘stay upon Him’ despite the difficultly/difficulties he or she might be going through, to keep praying even when it seems as if the heavens are closed, to keep praying and trusting God for a miracle even when the answer to that request seems to tarry.
Dear Believer,
In times like these, when things seem to be more difficult than they initially were, I admonish you to stay upon your God and refuse to be swayed by the lies and tactics of the devil who wants nothing more than to see your back on the floor at every point in time; to make sure you are living a defeated life. I want you to take and confess this verse personally and by faith even as you read this write-up: “Isaiah 50:7 – For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” Yes believer! you will not be ashamed because God will come through for you, and it will end in praise. Keep praising God even now that the storm is raging, keep praying, keep waiting, and keep hope alive. If you are in this stage of expecting an intervention from God, you can trust that He has something beautiful in store for you; something greater than your expectations, and it is just a matter of time, things will fall into place. All will be well Sister/Brother, do not take your eyes off Jesus.
